- עִרְבּוּב, עִי׳m. (עִרְבֵּב) mixture, fusion; confusion. Sabb.85b בא ע׳ וביטלוכ׳ the interlacing (of the plants overgrowing the ditch between them) undoes the ditch (as a separation); ib. אין ע׳ מבטל Ms. M. (ed. עירובו, corr. acc.); Gen. R. s. 4 לעִרְבּוּבוֹ, v. מַחֲלוֹקֶת; a. e.Pl. עִרְבּוּבִים, עִי׳. Gen. R. s. 49 (ref. to Gen. 18:25) עִירְבּוּבֵי שאילות יש כאן there is a fusion of questions in this sentence (an interchange of queries between Abraham and God); Yalk. ib. 83.
